The Call to Power[Ryo Terumi]

Ryo was sitting down in his apartment, putting together some of the scrolls he had pulled from his clan’s library, and a few he had grabbed for his personal collection, to try and learn a few new techniques.  He had been reading into a lost art that involved natural energy balance to increase strength and chakra output greatly, and was taught by only a select few of the summoning clans around the shinobi world.  Past masters varied between toad sages and snake sages, with a few other species mixed in between, but had been lost with the ages of time.  

Just as he was about to open a new scroll, an ANBU member, whose mask he recognized, had arrived though his apartment window and greeted the captain, “Captain, urgent message from the council of Sunagakure.  Your presence is requested immediately at the Kazekage’s office.”  Ryo looked up, curious as to why he was needed by the council. “Is that all,” he asked, only to discover he would have to find more out once he arrived.  “I shall be there shortly, please let them know.”  With that, the ANBU member left using some sort of Body Flicker technique, and Ryo made his way down to the Administrative Building, the home of the Kazekage’s office.

After stepping in the door, he noticed a few of the council members gathered around the desk, with ANBU members surrounding the perimeter of the room.  After looking around, he also saw one of the former Kazekages sitting behind the center of the desk.  “Elders,” he began, “you requested my presence?”  he asked, unsure of where this meeting would be going.

Ryo had never expected something like this. He did not have much contact with his superior, but h had no idea that it was because he was falling behind in his duties. Indecision plagued his mind, as he was not sure he could fill the large shoes left behind by generations of great leaders, especially at his young age. The council had placed great trust in him to grant the job to such an inexperienced shinobi, by comparison, and he himself felt he lacked the power to protect the village. As the final words were said by one of the pervious Kazekages, he was handed a scroll, which he assumed to be privy information to the upper echelon of ninja in the village.

He looked to his right to see a wicker couch, and upon the white cushions sat the famed Kazekage’s hat. The odd shape, teal wind kanji, and ornate details made it famed among the land, literally. The more he thought about the job he would undertake, the more it intrigued him. His training would need to be accelerated, that’s for sure, and this office would need a rework. Ryo walked over to the couch sitting in the office and picked up the hat, shortly after he placed it on top of his head. He turned to the council and said jokingly, “With all due respect elders, you are now sitting at my desk.” It was then that he took readjusted his hat, and stared out the window of his office and on to the glorious Village Hidden in the Sands.

The elders nodded to the man and grinned. "Study up, you have high expectations young Kazekage" The elders than stood and left the room leaving the Anbu and Ryo Terumi in the room.

Startled by how quickly the elders wanted to leave, he ushered them out the door as the ANBU members returned to their original posts. He finally set down the Kazekage hat on his desk as he looked out the window and on to the village. His face soon turned from a stare to a smile, knowing there was a long road ahead, and that he had finally honored his clan.
