A room that was what you had been in with other Genin teams before being shoved into a hallway, the door closed behind you. Small the hallway was, not being enough space for those within to walk side by side, forcing them to walk behind one another, but that doesn’t matter much for you see a door a couple feet away. With the door behind you being locked, you and your group decide to head towards the door a couple feet in front of you. Upon opening the door, you walk into a room a little larger than the one you had left. Once all have stepped into the room, the door closes behind you of its own accord, preventing you from going back.

Hidden within this badly lit, grey walled room are two plaques that have a riddle written on it. Near one of these plaques is a lever, which must be turned the right way in order for you to advance to the next test, and the riddles will assist you in making the right choice. Written upon the plaque closes to the lever is the following:

I am a button
That cannot be pushed or pulled
But when moved in the right way
I will show you your dream
But if moved wrongly
You will crash and burn

On the other plaque, the following is written:

I am a wall
Yet I am a Door
If you can find me
You can pass
But if you can't
You will fall

Armed with these two riddles and a lever that is your gateway to the next test, you and your team must now figure it out.

[Each member of the squad has 3 posts to figure out the riddle and how the lever factors into things. If you and your squad cannot figure it out in 3 posts, your team won’t be advancing to the next stage. Utilize the lever improperly, well that shall remain a surprise.]

Aerie Locke

Aerie Locke

Aerie and her new partner, Zevas, were travelling through the area and into the tight hidden area. The solid rock surface most would call a wall was cracked and crumbling, it was old and in a near ruin state. However, it was still functional. Its mechanism allowed it to shut the lever behind the two students of the Juudaime Mizukage, also known as Squad Zero. " Watch yourself, child! This area is unstable. " Her feline friend dubbed Wyte would caution, a bead of sweat sliding down her comically round head as she hovered over the duo. Aerie would smile up to her pal to let her know she was just fine. As the two stumbled into the room, two golden shines appeared on the furthest wall.

Aerie approached the golden plaques and tapped each with a single kunai, making sure not to touch the center lever. The instruction made it clear not to do that unless the right choice was chosen. Aerie would turn to her Chuunin Exams partner and gaze past his tinted shades and into his black eyes. " These riddles are difficult. I've never been good at them. I can only assume that falling and crashing aren't good and that the right answer is the better one. " She'd say, her mouth slightly gaped in puzzling thought. " What do you think? " She'd ask Wyte. The catlike being simply shrugged and they both turned to Zevas. " You? " They'd ask him in unison, both with a brow raised.

Zevas followed his new partner into the enclosed room, the glow from his eyes hidden by his sunglasses. Inside the room Zevas would look around, standing by the door that just closed behind him. It was just him and her in the room, and some illustrious thoughts started to run through his mind. Zevas quickly brushed them aside as he watched Aerie go up to the plaques and the lever, reading them. She would read them quietly to herself, causing Zevas to have to go up and read them himself as well. Two riddles, two plaques, one lever. Zevas would scratch his head as he placed on hand in his pocket, relaxing himself as he thought. The girl and her pet would turn to him, asking the almighty question of what he thought.

"Well, according to the riddles, if we choose wrong we will crash and burn, combined with falling."

Zevas would look down. Scuffing his foot on the floor.

"That must mean we are standing on some sort of trap door that is hovering over some sort of flaming pit. Going further we must move some button without pushing or pulling it in the right direction. That would be tough, but the lever itself isnt a button. There is also a hidden door somewhere in here that has to lead to the next area. We have multiple hidden things that we must find before we can even think of the next action to do. Hold on just a second my dear."

Zevas pondered for a moment, continuing to look around the room. Any mechanisms had to have been covered by stone, and the room was still lit enough to see. That left only one option. Zevas would focus a small amount of chakra into his left eye, causing the mechanism in it to switch over to a different gear, changing his vision. Zevas' vision changed to that of a blue hue, looking at his partner, seeing her skeletal structure. Zevas turned back to the lever, looking at it, and proceeded to scan the room. If there was anything hidden his eye would reveal the trickery, because different levels of density would now show up in his field of view, showing any sort of inconsistencies in the room around him.

The gears changing inside the eyeball within the genin's head was nearly audible has his vision changed from normal to that of X-Ray. And then he saw it. Underneath him was a cavern. And in one of the wall was was a slightly thinner wall that had nothing behind it. There was the door. Now he knew where the door was he could figure out how to open it. Other than that, he saw nothing else. No gears or metal connecting the door with the lever.

(OOC: continuation from last post)

Zevas had been observing the area and had found the hidden door with ease, as well as the empty cavern below them. He continued to observe the lever and the plaques on the wall, seeing nothing connect them and the hidden door. The lever was a ploy, and Zevas would make this known.

"Dont touch that lever Aerie, its a trap. Come here, there is a hidden door, its over here."

Zevas walked over to the wall with the hidden door, seeing its outline as its density was less than that of the rest of the room. Zevas would reach out, feeling the wall, looking around for anything that could possibly open it. He would move away from the door and turn back to his partner.

"The door is right here, but i am still not sure how to open it. Nothing is connecting this to the trap below us. We can ty pushing on it, and if that doesnt work we can try just knocking the thing down. What do you think?"

Aerie would shoot a smile at her partner, whether he saw or not was his choice. Regardless, she would wait until his analyses was complete. He wandered around the room for a moment before gazing into one spot for the longest time. He began to feel the wall and ask the blue haired kunoichi to follow him. She would also feel the wall, but it was pretty obvious there was no normal way out. Normal meaning that there was no lever, button, plate, nothing. It was simply bare rock with a door hidden behind it. The wall seemed strong enough to make Aerie believe that no average jutsu would break through. She grabbed her chin and hummed as she thought of possible ways to get to the other side with enough force.

" Why not use your new jutsu, Aerie? " Wyte would suggest as she leaned back as if she was lounging in an invisible hover chair. Aerie bounce up as if a light bulb sprouted from her blue locks. She turned to Wyte with her mouth gaped wide open and her eyes as big and bright as ever. " You're right! Crescent Gale should be enough to break through! " Aerie would shout preparing the needed hand seals. Chakra generated air began to fill the marrow of her bones and expel through her pours. The wind circulated like typhoons that had the cutting power of a chainsaw. Aerie would begin to twist her body and look at Zevas to make sure he was out of the way. He was. She then released the wind chakra in ten [10] , two [2] foot long crescent gales that would be more than enough to cut through simple, old gray rock. Once the attack hit, the wall would surely crumble and cut through the door behind it if it didn't move by itself.

The chakra hit the door with amazing force that most normal wooden doors would crumble under but not this door. Cause, see, this door was special. It would take considerable more force than a measly C ranked jutsu to break open and reveal it's hidden, moist passageway to the kids. The air appeared to be getting a bit stale on them as they use up even more oxygen trying to bust the unbustable door down.

Zevas watched as the door rumbled, being carved up, but still standing. He Looked at the door, or where it would be, his eye showing that the force caused it to shake, but not fall down. He looked at Aerie, then back at the door, then back at Aerie. "Lets attack at the same time, use something stronger than before. Im starting to get light headed, and the air tastes funny. I think we are losing oxygen here..." Zevas ran through his arsenal of jutsu through his head, deciding on a simple one, but one that was very effective. He backed away a little further, standing next to his partner. "On the count of three." Zevas would extend his arm, the air getting thinner. "One." He would point his finger at the door. "Two." Zevas would gather chakra in his arm, focusing it in his finger. "THREE!" Zevas would fire a single, powerful laser at the door, its bright light burning through the air as it would slam into the door, hopefully having aerie on time with his count, and it hitting at the same time hers would, blowing through the door and revealing the way out.

Aerie Locke

Aerie Locke

Aerie's attempt at getting free was futile. Sure. It broke through the first layer of the obstacle in front of them, but the second wooden door was stronger than that of c-rank cutting winds. Aerie's head began to grow numb and pulse as her blood struggled to travel through her system. The air in her brain began to thin and the wind jutsu she used didn't add enough backlash air for them to live much longer. The duo only had two [2] options: live, or die. Aerie refused to give up on her dream of being the best kunoichi in Kirigakure. She also refused to fail her beloved sensei or her beloved village. No...I will not die like this! She said in her mind, even her thoughts sounding softer as if fainting was close. She struggled to stand and only had one last attack in her before all the air in the small cave would vanish.

Zevas came up with the quickest and really only plan of survival: attack. They wouldn't die without a fight. They wanted to live, but not just for them, but for everyone they loved and held dear, including their sensei. Aerie shook her head and pulled her short bladed katana from her back. Her grip shook with anxiousness and her eyes began to blur. Without hesitation, Aerie would use the last of her remaining air to form wind chakra on her blade and swipe her blade towards the already damaged wooden door. A long crescent of sharp wind would collide with the door alongside Zevas' unique neon beam. Wyte would fall from the sky like a swatted fly, her wings vanishing and her breathing low and weak. The light was the last she, Aerie, and Zevas could see. If the wind from the other side of the door didn't enter the cave, they'd surely be dead.

The room filled with chakra as the two jutsu collided with the door. Then the two genin could no longer stand and their heads began pounding from the lack of oxygen and exertion of using two highly ranked ninjutsu.

The crashing sound is what roused the two unconscious genin from their lack of oxygen induced slumber. Groggily they would see that their two techniques were indeed capable of creating an opening big enough for one to crawl through at a time. Once through they would find themselves inside a dark and moist tunnel that traveled downward at a steep angle.

Aerie's body began to twitch as the air in her lungs escaped her. Wyte would follow suit and their body would shut down: a sign of fainting. However, the dark blankness in her cranium only lasted so long for the door had let in a wondrous moist draft. Aerie and Wyte began gasping for air as they were really fish out of water. Soon, their lungs began to circulate the air properly and she opened her bright brown eyes. Wyte was right beside her, wincing because of her headache. Aerie would begin to pet her head lovingly. " I'm glad you're alive. " Aerie would say shooting a smile at the mentally wounded feline. Wyte would simply frown and look up at Aerie. " I wish I could have done more. " She'd say, her English-like accent sounding sorrowful. Aerie would raise up using her hands and pushing from the stone floor. She would sheath her blade and turn to Wtye. " No. You did what you could. " She would say, still smiling.

Wyte would slightly smile, but not completely certain on that. She would shake her comically large head and her wings would manifest. She rose from her position and hovered above Aerie. Aerie turned to Zevas to see if he was okay. It was safe to assume he was since she had exerted more chakra than him in that exchanged. Nonetheless, Aerie wouldn't wait on him to begin exiting the horrid death chamber the sick chuunin exams officials called "The First Trial". She would begin to crawl through the tight, yet gaping hole in the door. Fortunately, her quick thinking and lack for patience helped them advance. " Alright, let's have some fun. " She say, her eyes growing intense as she held onto the hilt of her blade when she wandered through the narrow cave. The wind gusts were perfect and well appreciated. Aerie was happy to breathe normally, again.
