The young Sanroku was already chosen for this mission once again. This mission was like the others in the past few days, which involved a lot of training in order to become a stronger and more efficient shinobi. Especially a more efficient ANBU member. Sanroku was now near his graduation period, and becoming Special Jounin is something rather of a formality now. Something that needs to be done because the young Sanroku outgrew his position and thus his rank in no time as a chunin. The deadline was given and the authorities within Kumogakure already suggested that Sanroku gets a promotion sometime either this week or the next. Not much is known on what date they decided on giving the rank up promotion to Sanroku but one thing is curtained, and that is, that the higher ups want Sanroku to attempt a few more of these sparring missions before being considered for the rank of Special Jounin. Sanroku knows that he is young, but he is also in knowledge of younger shinobi than even he is doing more with their power as a shinobi. The young Sanroku walked to the training facility with his hands on his head pondering the ideology of being a young shinobi in such a powerful rank. The truth is, that when Sanroku was in the Academy, he learned about a number of shinobi that have made it to higher ranks than he is now at a younger age. Sanroku isn’t one to idolize power, yet this did vex him to some extent. Sanroku knows that he can be one of the best shinobi in the world, but what he has to do now is prove it somehow. While seeing the tower in which the ANBU training sparring matches are set to take place, the young Sanroku prepared himself for another hard fought day. These ANBU training games aren’t always something that a shinobi would want to go through, even if they had ANBU aspirations like Sanroku. The work ethic and durability that a body has to develop when training under these specific conditions is excruciating. Nevertheless, Sanroku is ready for this fight. When entering the facility, a lot of ANBU members already knew who the young shinobi was so while walking toward the sparring room, Sanroku got a few head nods by a few of the ANBU members in the facility. These head nods were signs of greetings for an ally and Sanroku responded by doing the same. Soon after reaching the sparring room, an ANBU shinobi appeared in front of Sanorku for the routine prep period. The ANBU was going to begin saying the rules and regulations of the ANBU training program, but before he did, Sanroku repeated it word for word in order to show the ANBU that he already knows it. And even after that, the ANBU shinobi still repeated the rules and afterward he said. “Don’t be such a smart ass. Just listen up and keep your mouth closed for now.”

As soon as Sanroku entered the arena, the battlefield turned dark. It appeared to be the same type of shadow genjutsu that the first opponent used what Sanroku fought him. Sanroku prepared for this darkened jutsu by fleeing from the shadows. Sanroku wasn’t going to get caught in the genjutsu first of all but now second in his to do list is finding out where the jutsu caster is hiding. Before Sanroku was able to think any more, a puppet came flying out of the shadows with this weird teeth clapping sound following right behind it. This caught the young shinobi by surprised, and so much so even that he had to leave his post and even enter the shadows because the puppet was forcing Sanroku to move toward that direction. It wasn’t long after that Sanroku noticed that he wasn’t able to see anything that is further than 5 meters. This is obviously a dangerous scenarios seeing as Sanroku is a shurikenjutsu specialist and the fighting style entails for long range tactics. The puppet that Sanroku was fighting was a humanoid puppet. It appeared to be human having two legs and two arms but it was clearly a puppet that was never human before. The puppet then appeared within Sanrokus 5 meter range of sight. After which, the puppet opened its mouth and when Sanroku thought he was going to have enough time to dodge, the puppet needed no hand seals to release an oceans worth of senbons. The senbon shot at a near rapid speed that was far too fast for Sanroku himself to witness. Due to this, Sanroku needed to create the Chakra shield and keep the shield right in front of him and the attack. The young chunin the attempted to peek out and see the attacker in action, and it was noticed that the puppet detached its head and now had its body roaming around in the darkness while the head stayed levitating shooting out an overwhelming amount of senbons. Sanroku was surprised to see this but more than this, he was now wondering where the rest of the puppet went and he suspects that it may come from his blind spot, i.e. his backside. So the young Sanroku stayed looking back while still defending against the senbon shower. Then before Sanroku was able to again react, the puppet head fell to the ground as it ran out of senbon to shoot but simultaneously so, the puppet appeared from underground and grabbed Sanroku by the foot. After which the puppet arose from the ground and picked the young shinobi up by the feet as he swung him around and tossed him onto the wall. Sanroku wanted to stand up and keep on fighting but before he was able to do so, the puppet head appeared right in front of Sanrokus face as it opened its mouth. Sanroku covered his face with his hands knowing that if the senbon shot, he wasn’t going to have enough time to block it with the chakra shield, but when Sanroku opened his eyes from the small fear he just showed, the puppet had a Tag on its tongue which read, “You lost. Maybe next time.”

When the darkness began to dissipate, it was clear to Sanroku now where the ANBU shinobi was standing the whole time while in the dark. It seemed like he didn’t bother to move an inch, and as soon as Sanroku attempted to stand up, he fell once again because his legs were weakened after the hard and forceful toss towards the wall. Sanroku stayed sitting knowing that these training had a medical shinobi always come in after the matches in order to heal the hurt trainee. While waiting, Sanroku thought about how he can go about fighting a shinobi who has mastered the art of fighting with a puppet. These puppet masters are obviously long ranged shinobi and they are quite skilled in long range combat seeing as they are barely forced to fight in a hand to hand combat. Well… Sanroku thought, at least this mission did what it was supposed to and paved the way for Sanroku to think about fixing and developing his fighting style to defend and even be able to attack such power in a shinobis arsenal. When the medic arrived, she began to heal Sanroku while repeating the rules and regulations to the training program. Sanroku was tired of hearing this already but there is nothing he can do since this was a procedure known to be protocol. Sanroku stood up once fully healed and stretched a little as he prepared to fight his next shinobi. The ANBU appeared as soon as the medic disappeared. When she left through one door, the opponent ANBU shinobi came through the very same door. The young chunin didn’t know what to expect from this guy so rather than waiting for him to react, Sanroku decided to be the first to attack. The young shinobi pulled out a kunai using his hidden hand technique so that the ANBU wont suspect a thing, and while Sanroku prepared to launch the kunai he noticed the ANBU shinobi make a few hand seals in order to prepare himself for the attack. Nothing happened once the hand seals were finished, but Sanroku wasn’t going to be fooled by the fact that this jutsu doesn’t have an explosive start. So he decided to get a distance between the two, so that when the jutsu did decided to activate, then Sanroku won’t be near to experience any damage. Sanroku then threw the kunai at full force with an attempt to make the ANBU jump back, and to Sanrokus success, the Kunai aimed at the targets feet made the enemy do just that. Afterwards, in order to gather distance, Sanroku decided to use his smoke screen. A weapon used by ninjas in order to evade certain scenarios. This being one of the scenes. As soon as the smoke bomb was tossed onto the ground, the whole area was engulfed in non-transparent smoke. This is perfect for Sanroku as it will give him enough time to think. But before Sanrou was able to think clearly, the ANBU shinobi appeared directly behind Sanroku as Sanroku responded by saying. “How did you find me with this smoke screen?”

When Sanroku lifted up his arms to defend himself, he was met with a kick to his forearm. This kick was strong enough to make Sanroku fly sideways but it wasn’t strong enough to knock the young shinobi out. Although with the surprising aspect attributed to that maneuver Sanroku was quite surprised that the ANBU shinobi didn’t make it in time to get a clean and direct hit. This prompted the young shinobi to analyze the fact that this shinobi must not be a Taijutsu specialist. Although something stillw asnt right, because if he wasn’t a taijutsu specialist, then why would he get close to Sanroku for hand to hand combat. The young Chunin wanted more time to think, so he decided to run behind the still covered in smoke area in order to gather more time to think about the situation at hand. While behind the smoke screen, Sanroku got on his knees as if to rest a little. That kick did do some damage even though it didn’t do a lot. Then again, before Sanroku was able to catch his breath, he noticed three kunai coming at him at a moderate speed. The first two kunai were able to be misdirected with the Misdirection technique while the third kunai made contact and sliced the young shinobi on the leg that he had kneeled down. Sanroku stood up and grabbed that same Kunai with his blood on it while he got on his Lion’s Paw stance. The young shinobi knew that the ANBU wasn’t close, but for some reason he was still able to attack Sanroku through the smoke screen. It is almost as if he was seeing right through it. This stopped Sanrokus train of thought. He now wondered if the shinobi was able to see through this smoke, so Sanroku released 10 kunai from his pouch in order to use the shurikenjutsu technique, while simultaneously attaching the kunai with smoke screen bombs at the end of them. The plan was to engulf the area in this blinding smoke, and if the ANBU still finds a way to attack, then the mystery is deciphered. Although this may not be the best way to go about finding out the shinobis specialty, it happened to be Sanrokus only way without wasting time. After all of the smoke screens blew up, the young shinobi jumped into a corner as the whole room began to engulf itself. Sanroku prepared himself to defend himself with an attack that he attempted to keep hidden until he found out where the shinobi was hiding, and soon after, he revealed himself. The ANBU revealed himself to say that Sanroku lost the match because he wasn’t able to defeat him. But at the same time, Sanroku had a hail of kunai rain down on the ANBU in front of him. The kunai weren’t targeting him to hit, but it was targeting the ANBU in order for the ANBU to know that the match wasn’t fully lost. The only reason Sanroku didn’t shoot the kunai is because he knows a kunai can kill if someone is not prepared for the hit on a vital spot i.e. the head in which Sanroku had the kunai aimed at before the match was over. When the ANBU noticed this, he reversed his call and said. “Pass.”
