Oboro

avatar

Once again, deep in slumber, Oboro found himself on the black lake, unable to submerge into the dark liquid and simply sitting upon it, creating ripples whenever he would move. The ripples then stretched infinitely, as there was no end to this dark world, only a white light in the horizon. The light shined upon him as he looked down at the back of his hand, not knowing what to do for the time being. After sitting still for what seemed to be an incredibly long time, ripples began to form and move towards Oboro. It was clear the sage from his dreams prior was here once more, showing up as he always did. This time in particular, Oboro did not stand to greet him, but rather stayed on the ground and thought to himself of why he was brought here. Each time he was "summoned" by the old man, some great task was fulfilled shortly after. However, unsure of exactly what the man was, Oboro only glanced at him. It seemed that today the number of tomoe his sharingan had was once again decreased by one, for the second time, down to four total in each eye. It seemed as if the number grew lower and lower each time Oboro saw him. The sage once again seemed to be considerably younger than before once again.

Oboro would stand, stretch and ask the man. "What exactly are you? You appear every now and then and change me. Why." To this, the old man simply replied with what seemed to be his name. "Xamengyuko," He said simply. With this answer, Oboro was not satisfied and so he persisted further, trying to discover the true purpose of the ultimate Uchiha before him. "What are you here for?" Oboro would ask bluntly. Though the response he received wasn't the one he would have wanted. "I cannot answer that." Oboro persisted by asking the same question in different ways but the answer always remained the same, Xamengyuko simply replied with, "I cannot answer that." Oboro swore under his breath as his scalp itched for the answer to this enigma. He was receiving no useful information. He decided to ask the tan robed, white bearded man one last question before giving up. "What do you want with me?" The old man seemed completely still as if thinking to himself about what the true answer was. He simply extended his hand and placed it on the shoulder of Oboro Uchiha before looking in his eyes. "To help you see."

Upon the eye contact with Xamengyuko, Oboro's mind began playing tricks on him. The sage disappeared altogether and it seemed as if the younger Uchiha was moving through a tunnel at light speed. Lights were flashing frantically as he felt transported. Unable to stop himself, rather than panicking decided to let the current take him to whoever it would go. While not fighting it, he seemed to be traveling at a much slower pace, able to observe the enigmatic beauty around him. The previous black void had been replaced with galaxies aplenty stretching into a greater void than his mind could possibly attempt to perceive. However, one shined particularly bright, the one the tunnel was going for. He seemed to be getting closer, and as he entered the galaxy, individual planetary systems could be seen. Within these planetary systems, planets were abundant. Upon his flight, he was getting closer and closer to one. Upon breaking the atmosphere, he was erupted in a veil of flames. Before making impact with the earth, he crossed his arms over his and curled into a ball, allowing himself to roll. The young China's body grinded into the dirt, knocking up yards of dirt around it, unable to stop himself. It took nearly three minutes to stop completely. In this time he must have traveled at least five miles, though he had no visible marks on his skin.

Upon his halt, he stood from the ground and looked down at his naked body. His clothes were no longer evident. He also seemed to be a bit smaller, now ranging about five feet and six inches. Had he grown smaller? He made his way to the nearest body of water, a puddle about twenty yards to the left of where he had landed. With ripples already present, he couldn't see his face in the reflection at first. However, upon the cease of its movement, his face cleared up. He was no longer his old self. He was more his old self in fact. He looked exactly as he did when he was thirteen years old. "W-What the hell is going on!?" He exasperated at the top of his lungs. He turned around to look at the scenario he was in. It seemed he was in an environment that looked similar to the swamps on earth. As he turned back around, Xamengyuko was there, standing on a lily pad, though he did not sink. Oboro couldn't muster the strength to say anything before the old man said "Survive," And fade into the air as if he was one with the wind.

Nothing on his body, Oboro felt a bit helpless and unaware. It seemed as if he was tasked with surviving on nothing.  Once again he looked into the water and ran his hands down his cheek. His eyes were no longer their glossy yellow but rather a blank red. No pupil was present, nor were any tomoe. A red pool rested on his eyeball though he was still able to see perfectly. He simply sat there and stared before reaching out and touching his reflection slightly in the water. It rippled, allowing the vampires reflection to disappear.

Then he made his way to find some sort of civilization. Surely something of the sort would exist for him to capitalize on. He saw grass pushed down every few inches, leading him to assume humans had indeed existed here. There was no way he was truly alone in this illusionary dream. Though he found nothing until he'd walked over two days. His sense of hunger was extreme, forcing him to eat berries that he'd found along his way. They were particularly tasty, though they gave him a sense of hallucinations. They were almost like a type of drug. He could see Uchiha of the past guiding his way to this civilization.

Upon his arrival, the people of the village were just as he was, Uchiha. However they all had pupils and tomoe. He was the only one with blank eyes. The children pointed and screamed, running to their mothers to be veiled in their warmth. The mothers all whispered to their children, telling them not to worry, that it would be okay. The monster himself was the only one with no mother to comfort him. However, he saw a familiar face once more.

The man that seemed to be yet a younger version of the sage emerged after hearing the screaming of the people around him. He ran to the younger version of Oboro, grabbed his shoulder and escorted him inside. Oboro followed. He glanced up at the man and noticed that he possessed three tomoe now and his hair was a darker shade of gray. He looked to be about in his fifties at this point. The pubescent Uchiha wondered what exactly was happening. He arrived inside the small house with Xamengyuko and was immediately scolded by the man.

"Oboro, how many tomes have I told you not to go outside?" The man scolded Oboro. The young Uchiha and looked away, noticing a mirror to the right of him. After revealing his reflection, he now seemed to be nine or ten years old. The hardened expression of the man faded as he pulled in the boy. He embraced him, holding him tight. "I'm... I didn't mean to yell. Its just... I worry about my grandson is all." Oboro's eyes widened as he heard this. 'G-grandson?' What the hell was this geezer talking about? Oboro was his grandson... Did that mean that this old man was his blood. "Hey Xamengyuko what-" Suddenly everything was black once more as the sages voice bellowed "NO!"

Within the void, Oboro looked down once more, still naked though his body was its matured version. The black began filling with tiny specs of light, all around him as Oboro waited for the scenario to fill in completely. All of these things happening.... What exactly did they mean. What were they trying to show him? As he blinked, everything went dark. Upon opening his eyes, a new scene was present. He was now surrounded by white, in a hospital. He looked at himself, appearing ethereal. He wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but he decided to ask around. Suddenly he heard a commotion coming from the hall perpendicular to his own. A man was yelling about loss of blood and hazards to come. "This woman needs to be rushed to the emergency room now!" Suddenly a man began to turn the corner. It was his father. The black haired man had three tomoe in each eye. He wore a pair of glasses and spiky black hair. He also wore a button up shirt with a neck tie, loosened at the knot. He was wearing slacks with a shiny belt at his waist with shiny shoes below  Sweat was dripping down his brow. His face had slight stubble where his beard normally was. Suddenly a gurney carrying a woman emerged from the double doors his father had came from previously. Doctors on each side rushed her to the nearest room. As Oboro attempted to step in the way, they simply passed right through him. He was indeed not present in this scenario. Soon after, Xamengyuko passed through the same door, limping due to his age. With his mother rushed in the emergency room, his father was forced to wait outside and talk with the doctor.

"What do you mean they won't make it?" He asked with tears running down his face. Xamengyuko arrived just in time to hear this tragic news. The doctor continued to explain to trivial father. "There's something odd with the baby... With the way things are going, neither of them will make it." A grimace stretched across the face of the old man as he heard of his daughter and grand child's fate. In his eye, his sharingan formed an odd shape, equivalent on all three sides where the tomoe originally were. The only tears that left his eyes were bright red, wiped away on his cloak before entering the operation room after the doctors had given up. His daughter lied there, only able to speak. Oboro's father soon entered after her. "Save my baby..." The mother begged of her father. She knew he possessed great power, power capable of saving lives. The baby's father attempted to convince the crying mother that the two could always have another child, and this she agreed to. She asked the man leave the room as the grandfather performed his healing art. Xamengyuko however, did not inform his daughter that due to his age, it would take his remaining life force to save her.

The geezer's hand turned a bright blue as he slowly reached for the chest of the weeping mother. However immediately before making contact, she grabbed her fathers hand, forcing it on her stomach, allowing his magic to reach her womb, to her child. The old mans eyes widened as his daughter had planned her own sacrifice to act as a martyr for her child. His little girl...  She'd grown up completely. The doctors came in as the old man stumbled. He only had a few minutes left, as did his daughter. The father came through the room as soon as his son had been birthed. The mother was nuzzling his red hair against her cheek. Baby Oboro's eyes opened, revealing a sickly yellow color. The ethereal version grimaced at the sight on his fathers face. However his mom did nothing but smile at her child. "His name... Is Oborodzuki." She said to the new father. "I want you to take care of him. The both of you." She said while glancing between the father and grandfather. Both understood what she meant and nodded. Her eyes closed, Oboro still in her arms and Xamengyuko clenched his chest, falling to the ground.

From the shadows, the sage Oboro had seen, Xamengyuko, grabbed his shoulder and spun the boy around. The boys eyes were no longer red, but the same color of yellow that his mother had appreciated. A single tear ran down his face, something that had never happened before. Using his index finger, he swooped it up and stared at it. With eyes focused on it, his pupils dilated and filled with a pool of red. His sharingan arose, all three tomoe included. However, something rather abstract formed within them. The color faded completely, no longer red with black tomoe. He now possessed a sharingan, black with white tomoe.

In the real world, Oboro came to, snapping awake. After touching his finger to cheek and pulling away, it was clear that he was bleeding from his eye. He immediately ran to the bathroom, flipped on the light to look in the mirror. His hand shook, trembling with excitement as well as fear. His reflection possessed the sharingan he'd seen in his dreams. This was his next stage of sharingan... His mangekyo.
