Rakki

Kiri Genin

As always, the training grounds of Kirigakure were shrouded in a mist that stole away most of a person's sense of sight. It was relatively depressing, to tell the truth, but Rakki had learned to ignore the mist and see it as a way to improve himself. Without sight, one had to rely on their other senses and this made for a better shinobi. The mist cooled the training grounds and dampened your clothing, allowing you to stay cool for intense bouts of training, another perk. Walking carefully through the mist and the parts of the training grounds he knew, Rakki navigated himself through the mist with precision up to a point until he became slightly unfamiliar with the terrain. He had never needed to go past this point, and as such, hadn't. Heart pumping, Rakki placed one foot in front of the other as he searched for what he had been told was here; a small pond for which to practice Suiton techniques.

Rakki himself didn't know how to use Suiton yet, though he knew he had the innate ability to use it from his usage of Hyoton and its ice generating properties. He had been informed that ice required two elements to form: Suiton and Fuuton. He knew his village focused on Suiton more and as such, it would be a much better choice to try and learn that element first and foremost to accelerate his maturity as a shinobi. Still treading carefully, Rakki took another twelve steps before his foot brushed along the surface of cold water. Kneeling, Rakki immersed his left arm up to his shoulder in water and still didn't find the bottom. That must mean this was the pond, as puddles never usually went further than his elbow if it was an especially deep hole that the water had filled. Withdrawing his hand, Rakki took a seat in the traditional Japanese fashion with his lower legs tucked underneath him and his body straight as an arrow. He would need all the focus he could generate in order to figure out how to separate his two chakra natures instead of using them together. Inhaling deeply to calm himself, Rakki then exhaled and closed his eyes.

Continuing his breathing at a steady pace and slightly deeper breaths than he would normally take, Rakki focused on his chakra flow. Extending his hand over the water, Rakki willed his chakra to his right hand. As the chakra progressed along his arm, he would attempt to single out the one chakra nature he desired: Suiton. He focused hard on an orb of water forming in his mind, one of the basic ways to know if you've gained control over the element you wish to gain mastery over. Opening his eyes and watching whilst also concentrating on the task at hand, Rakki watched as the chakra he released began to turn the surface of the pond into ice instead of gathering it into the orb that he had wanted. Clenching his fist and bringing it down on the surface of the pond, Rakki shattered the ice and took a deep breath. He didn't concentrate hard enough on separating the two distinct chakra natures, apparently. Deciding to try a different approach, Rakki took out a pouch of special paper from inside his trench coat. It was chakra sensing paper, designed specifically to detect what kind of chakra nature somebody is.

Taking one piece, Rakki held it between his index finger and thumb while he concentrated on the actual piece of paper. Sending a small burst of chakra into the paper, Rakki simultaneously tried to control which element made its way out of his fingertips. The paper in front of him ripped in half almost immediately while also becoming soaking wet. Furrowing his brow in annoyance, Rakki cast aside the half slip of paper he was now holding in his hand. Grabbing two pieces of paper now, Rakki held one in each hand and began to flow chakra into them. He concentrated on the half of his innate chakra pool that was Suiton as hard as he had concentrated when he was taught to use a sword, which was quite a bit. The piece of paper in Rakki's left hand ripped in half immediately, but the piece of paper in his right simply became damp. Rakki simply stared at the paper in disbelief. Had he done it? Was he hallucinating in the mist? Dropping the paper, Rakki grabbed a fourth piece and held it in his hand. Focusing chakra into the paper again whilst also concentrating on Suiton, the paper in his fingertips became damp yet again and without a trace of Fuuton anywhere. Ecstatic, Rakki placed his hands together in the Ram seal and focused on the pond in front of him.

Releasing his chakra in an attempt to will the water into a sphere, the pond remained motionless for a second before several small amounts of water lifted up and began to congeal upon themselves, forming into a sphere after some time, effort, and pure focus on Rakki's part. Releasing the seal, Rakki watched as the water fell back into the pond with a light splash. Standing with a huge grin on his face and with a sense of satisfaction, Rakki cleaned up the small mess he had made with the paper and turned to leave the training grounds with a new found sense of confidence.
